What is Alprazolam and Fluoxetine used for?
This is a combination of two medicines: Alprazolam and fluoxetine which have anxiety-lowering and mood-enhancing effects. Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine (BZD) which increases the action of GABA, a chemical messenger that suppresses the abnormal activity of the nerve cells in the brain. Fluoxetine is selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) which increases the levels of serotonin, a chemical messenger that improves mood. Used in the treatment of Mild depression, Panic disorders, Anxiety associated with depression. Depression, Bulimia nervosa. Obsessive compulsive disorder. Premenstrual dysmorphic disorder. Panic disorder.
